Pamella Roland Spring 2013 Presentation

Photos Taken by Nicole.Fristachi
Classic, elegant, and refined are the words I used to describe Pamella Roland's Spring 2013 Collection. Her color palette mostly consist of black, white, grey and taupe. However  her inspiration for the collection was Ellsworth Kelly. So I can understand Pamella's incorporation of a vibrant cobalt blue and yellow into her color mix. Each pieces had a simplicity, clean shape and form, with geometric abstraction that was reminiscent of Kelly. As always, her evening-wear was beautiful. The looks are perfect for the red carpet. However, this season Pamella also gave us a variety of silhouettes and separates that looks like it will be flattering on most women and can transcend from day into evening.

Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013 Collection

Tadashi Shoji spring 2013 collection was famine, light, and down right
pretty. Beautiful lace, printed silk chiffon's and Georgette dresses
floated down the runway taking you around the globe. Inspired by his
travels, the designer had beautiful embroideries, ikat-prints, and cut
works inspired by Venice, Kazakhstan, the Gobi Desert, and the ancient
capital city of  Xi’an in China. The colors were gorgeous hues of  blue,
red, green, purple, nude/beige and black. The silhouettes were
simple, but the fabrics, workmanship and artistry in each piece added a
timelessness, elegance, and beauty that is transcendental.

Project Runway Fashion Show Spring 2013

The Project Runway Spring 2013 runway show was phenomenal! I am a big sucker for the show, and it was delightful to see some of my favorite designers past and present sitting in the audience. And like pass seasons, this year’s group of designers does not fall short on  talent or flamboyant personalities. Eight designers made it to the runway show, however only three or four of them were the actual finalist, and to know that, you have to keep watching the show.

Venexiana Spring 2013 Collection

Fashion designer Kati Stern got a standing ovation, as she debut her spring/summer 2013 collection for Venexiana. Known for exquisite tailoring and lush embellishments with a punk rocker edge, the design house pulled out all the stops and showed a very elegant, sexy, and vibrant collection. Colors range from champagne, pink blush, grey, to rich orange, black and a sprinkle of prints. Some of the pieces were soft and flowy, while others were edgy and lets just say VaVaVaVoom! The details in the dresses and the intricate hand work was undeniably brilliant.

The color pallet includes beige, caramel, rusty orange, grey, mint-ish green and black. The collection which includes looks for both men and women, was fresh, comfy, and versatile. Bottom line, this brother and sister design duo is taking urban fashion to the next level.

Fashion Night Out 2012!

Fashions one night only shopping spree once again took place during the annual New York fashion week spring 2013 season, and between the chaos and overwhelming number of people, the night was filled with exciting events, free champagne, celebrity guest, and many goodies, all in the name of fashion. Created by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and Fashion Designer/CFDA President Diane Von Furstenberg, FNO has helped boost the fashion industry global market economy since its inception in 1999, and I hope will continue next year. Did I shop my ass off?  Not really, but I was able to buy a few things here and there and had so much more fun doing it at Lord and Taylor. Each floor had an event. The main attraction of the night was Kim Kardashian on the third floor, she meets, greet, and sign her new perfume True Reflection. It was almost impossible to see her! But I manage to get the  above video clip of her. Also, Ex TV Housewife & Entrepreneur Jill Zarin Promoted her new Jewelry line on the second floor, while Kristi Yamaguchi signed tote bags from Tsuya. Project Runway cast members past and present was on the forth floor signing and creating tee shirts. There were lock boxes to open for surprise gifts and champagne to sip all while shopping and so much more.

John Galliano was stripped of his metal of Legion d'Honneur

President Francois Hollande has taken away John Galliano metal of Legion d'Honneur, a prestigious award given to the designer for his contributions to Haute Couture. Galliano was convicted of flinging anti-semitic remarks in a drunken tirade and was fined $8,400, which he did not have to pay, and no jail time. The former Dior artistic director was eventually fired from Christian Dior and his own label.  Unfortunately this is another disgraceful blow to the once revered designer. Despite all that has happen. I, for one, still admire Mr. Galliano's talent and creative genius. His work was an inspiration to me and fellow designers alike; and although his actions were wrong and his life topsy turvy, I can still appreciate all the craftsmanship, creativity, and showmanship he has made to the world of fashion, especially Haute Couture. As we approach 2013, I could have never imagined in 2010 and again in 2011 the fashion industry would loose two of the most supreme designers of our time, Lee Alexander McQueen and John Galliano in such different and unfortunate circumstances. I hope as time goes on, Mr. Galliano will find his way back into the spotlight and high fashion. Despite the fame, reverence, and acclamations, no one is invincible and we all hold a key to our destruction.
